After waiting close to a year to call someone, we finally called around. I wound up spending about 30 minutes on the phone just trying to get in contact with an electrician at 10:30am on a Tuesday. For some reason, no one wanted to answer their phone.
About 10 minutes after I called CJ Electric, an unknown number called my phone. I answered and it was a guy from their company calling me. At first the conversation wasn't even a conversation, it consisted of me saying "Hello?" numerous times and him talking in the background to someone else. When he finally deemed to actually get on the phone, I explained our issue and wanted to know their prices/schedule.
According to the man I spoke with, their technicians cost $60 per hour and their assistants cost an additional $30 per hour. When I said I was just looking for a quote, he said that the assistant would be required to attend with him. I am not a fan of this, but decided to go along with it.
When it came to scheduling, he was very shady. He wouldn't provide an exact DAY he would be there. His response to when he was available was: "I can be there sometime this week, make sure you are home." For an ENTIRE week?? Not going to happen with 3 kids, another on the way, and my husband working full time. He couldn't tell me even the day he wanted to show up! So, I'm supposed to be around (stuck in the house) ALL week so he can get his overpriced butt to my house? I asked him to come whenever was convenient for him but to please call in advance, so that someone could be home. You'd think I dropped an atom bomb on his head, what with the attitude he gave me.
I wound up calling another company. They saw us the very next day (with no word from CJ Electric, we called and cancelled their "week long appointment") at their EXACT time they said they'd be here, and only charged us $39.00 for the entire duration of their stay. We wound up hiring them on the spot to fix our problem, and it was completed within 15 minutes (something about loose wires in our control box).
My husband thinks this is a scam. He thinks this is probably some dude running his own business and dragging his son along with him as his "apprentice". We were NOT happy to be almost charged DOUBLE for a quick inspection. We tried to get out of the apprentice coming, but apparently that wasn't even an option. It doesn't help that their scheduling wasn't even a schedule or that the guy treated me like a complete moron on the phone.
We won't be referring them to anyone else we know.
