Crystal McCullough - Kicked Out of Bar for Breastfeding and Drinking

I think this could have been handled better on the MOM'S part.  The business was just trying to field complaints about the mo DRINKING while breastfeeding.


Does this woman not realize that her milk contains that alcohol, and she is feeding it to her child?  It doesn't matter if she was waiting to drink her little fireball shot until AFTER she done...because she most likely would be feeding that child again within the next 2-3 hours (when the alcohol finally passes through her system).  She claims to have had only "one sip of beer" and was waiting until she had more.  Bull fucking shit.  What person really truly tells the truth about ONLY having ONE sip when caught?  Come on now.  We see it ALL the time.  (And even IF - strong IF - she is telling the truth, she is still WRONG).


There may be no law about breastfeeding while drinking, but there is starting to be one.  Does she not realize a mother was just arrested for her newborn having meth in her system?  All it takes is some legal wording, and if your child has a drop of alcohol in their system...you can be arrested too!  Just because there is no SPECIFIC law about it...doesn't make it right.


If you truly cared about your child's safety, you shouldn't of even had ONE sip of beer...let alone be IN a bar with your kidlet.  WHY bring your baby into a BAR (she was actually outside on a smoke deck...awesome place for an 11 month old)?  Get a sitter.  Not only is that BAD parenting, but really...a BAR?  They aren't exactly the safest places to be, and there IS an age limit.  Weren't we all JUST jumping on a woman for allowing her 8 year old to come inside a bar with her recently?  Why are we NOT jumping on this woman for going into a bar with her newborn?

I'd also like to see the proof that she is a "degreed chemist" (her own words) and she has done tests on how much alcohol she can consume without it affecting her child.  Seriously, woman?  I don't believe your little medical experiment for a damn second.

I have done some research on this before.  The general consensus is 2-3 hours after consuming an entire beer before you feed your little monkey again from the beginning.  However, you can start drinking that beer 10-15min before you are done with your CURRENT feeding.  IE Either way this woman would have had a WARM beer, and WHO wants a WARM beer?  She's full of shit.

So the La Leche says the beer AND shot (if both drank WHILE breastfeeding) would be in her milk in 30-60 minutes.  The beer would take 2-3 hours and the shot would take close to 13 hours to finally pass through her system.  ~*~The more you know~*~  So, even if this woman was just "sipping" her beer or just had a "sip" of her beer, it COULD have been fed to her baby during the time she was feeding it.  Naturally, this depends on how hungry the monkey was.  A beer and a shot would roughly take her to about .68 BAC if consumed within an hour of each other.  (The amount of alcohol in your breastmilk is the same as the amount in your blood)

Even if she wanted to bring her child to a bar (real classy right there), she could have pumped before she left.  None of this would have happened if she had been prepared beforehand.  This falls on her head again.  She is to blame for the other patrons being upset, thus making the manager say something to her, thus getting her kicked out.

Even the REAL experts are saying she is in the WRONG here.  Granted, I don't take them worth their salt most of the time...but in this case, it's numerous departments and places saying she was WRONG.  Also, there is such a thing as common sense.

This woman isn't fighting a "breastfeeding in public" issue.  She was essentially asked to leave by management because other patron's were complaining about her DRINKING and feeding a baby.  She needs to take her 15 minutes of fame and stop humping this restaurant's facebook page (where she constantly changes her story).

From the horse's mouth:  "I said there is no law that says I can't breast-feed and drink. I'm not doing anything wrong, and he then proceeded to say, you know what, it's also my right to refuse service. I'm going to be cashing you guys out, you can leave," she told the station."

LOL!  She got TOLD!  She tries to pull the "I have rights" card, and the manager is like..well, bitch, I have rights too.  Now, get the fuck out.  That's an AWESOME way to handle a drama queen like this.  She wants to act all high and mighty?  Well, she can do it at home.  She doesn't need to be causing a scene or drama in this restaurant.

*Note: The baby was not a newborn, but actually 11 months old.*

My opinion:
How many times have we heard someone say: "It was only a sip, officer!" Come on. No one drinks a WARM beer (ew)...and she was on a smoke deck type of deal outside of the bar. So, not only did she bring her 11 month old to a bar...but sat down in the smoker's area AND was drinking (at least a SIP) while feeding her child. Then, she decided to order her beer/shots early...and ONLY had a sip? With the beer and the shot alone, her BAC would easily have been .68 and the blood alcohol level is the SAME as her milk alcohol level....

Also, she apparently (according to her) is a "degreed chemist" who knows EXACTLY how much alcohol she can consume. Uh huh. Sure, sweetheart. If the professionals are ALL agreeing on one thing, it's usually right...but I guess we should believe YOUR story, huh?

Patrons complained, she was told to stop drinking while feeding the baby, she tried to express her rights...and the manager expressed his. Thus, she was kicked out. Maybe she shouldn't of made such a big scene/deal out of the whole thing. You want to pull out your rights? Don't be surprised when someone exercises some of theirs! If she didn't try to get snotty with the guy, I'm sure she could have stayed IF she stopped drinking WHILE feeding her baby.

(She's also trolling the bar's facebook page, where her story keeps changing. Even classier!)

This could have all been avoided if she had 1) pumped before she left or 2) get a sitter. Even if she wanted to go out and have fun times, did she have extra milk lying around at home for AFTER she was done drinking? Because that can take up to 13 hours just to get rid of ONLY that ONE shot. (2-3 hours for the beer, 13 hours for the shot) If she did have some pumped for AFTER she was done drinking, why not bring some for when you are out and ARE going to be drinking? Oh right...common sense.

She's just not a bright person and needs to look into things a bit more before trying to throw around her "mommy rights".

In the end this isn't even about breastfeeding. She was asked to leave OR correct her issue that other patron's were complaining about (make the masses happy over the one). She did neither AND pitched a drama fit. She was politely asked to leave. Later she makes a stink out of it for attention. Done.

And the manager was trying to help the situation because no it is not illegal what she did but there we're male customers so upset by what was going on that they wanted to fight hers husband/ the father for allowing her to drink while breast feeding their child

It seems like this was causing such a problem that fights were close to breaking out.  No wonder the manager got involved.  Aside from the complaints, no one wants fights in their bar.

In the end there are over 3 different places that agree to "statistics". (I usually don't quote the LLL because they tend to be hypocritical sometimes). I could probably scrounge up some more with just a google search.

Fights were going to break out. She admitted to drinking it while breastfeeding. She caused a scene, then made it even bigger...changed her story. Now she is continuing this drama. She needs to grow up.

She was disturbing the peace of the other customers due to the DRINKING (not JUST the breastfeeding, the customers didn't care she was breastfeeding until they saw her drinking). When she was asked politely to stop either breastfeeding OR drinking, she had a bitch fit. The managers told her to leave. It's in their right to do that. Period.

I'd also have an issue if I saw some woman drinking while breastfeeding. Most of those quotes I posted were estimates, so it could be faster or longer too. Who knows. You should NOT be drinking while breastfeeding. It's not only trashy but it's dangerous to your child.

She admitted to having ordered an entire beer (and having at least a sip WHILE feeding) and a fireball. Doesn't sound very responsible to me.

Editted: Dear god...she admitted to a sip of the FIREBALL and a FEW sips of the beer. Woah. Just woah. This was admitted on their facebook/in an interview, AFTER the restaurant said they have surveillance. So, I was right. It went from JUST sipping water, to "only a sip", to a few sips, to only a few sips of the beer and A sip from the fireball. Chick was drinking while feeding her kid, and she ONLY admitted it when there was concrete proof.

This wasn't a big deal until SHE made it a big deal. She was asked politely to leave (as is their right) or cease drinking while breastfeeding. She caused an up roar online, in public, and now in the news.

I'm still sketchy on whether she was kicked out or not. In one interview it is implied she was asked to leave, and in another they say they closed out her tab...prohibiting her from ordering anymore alcohol. When that happened, she left. So, not sure which REALLY happened...as it's sketchy at best.


Update:

Here's some of her own facebook photos of her basically drinking nonstop.  She has more public pictures of her with a beer or wine glass in her hand, then she does of her kid/s.  Some are pictures of her NEAR wine empty wine glasses/beer cups.  So, she could possibly say they aren't hers...but there are PLENTY of her HOLDING the cups of beer and bragging about it.  She obviously likes to drink.  I didn't feel like making a screenshot of ALL of these.  She will probably remove most of them eventually.  So, have at it.

My wife and I were kicked out of this establishment, by the General Manager Danny, because my wife was nursing our 11 month old daughter. When my wife told him it was a state law and he couldn't stop her from doing so he said "...and you are aware that I can refuse service to anyone I choose". In 2014 this type of behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated! You have lost two long time customers for life.

A military veteran friend and his wife went here, she was breast feeding their baby daughter and were told "we are sorry this is a family restaurant" and were asked to leave. This is a disgraceful establishment if they feel that a baby doesn't have just as much right to eat as anyone else.  I have been here myself and wasn't impressed but this is enough to guarantee that I do not ever go again. Shameful.

I have given Big Woody's a second, AND third chance. Every time my wife and I go, we can always rely on... Horrible waitress', flat draft beer, watered down mixed drinks, and a deck we can't enjoy because of smoking.  Their food is typical bar food, but nothing to write home about... This is an interesting review, I linked the entire review so you can get a grasp of what OTHER reviews basically say.  It's a damn bar.  The smoke deck is a SMOKE DECK.:

It's a bar. Do not go there expecting a quality restaurant or worthy meal menu. It's simply a mediocre bar. It probably has been around for a long enough time to earn some kind of reputation with a few old timers to earn it some kind of reputation as a place to go. We went for dinner and that was a flop! Appetizer of thawed frozen spinach and sprinkled parmesan cheese...did someone forget to at least microwave the spinach? LOL! Sesame crusted ahi (tuna)...okay, first time overcooked and waitress said she was having another serving prepared. The course I then got was then completely rare. I requested to just box it up and I planned to take it home and "doctor" it up to my own liking.  Well, I never got the entree to take home. Somehow it got boxed and thrown away by another waitress. The salad I ordered prior to my entree never was delivered and the waitress just shrugged it off when I mentioned it! Do these owners/servers know there is an abundance of quality places to spend money in these hard economic times?! Don't waste your hard earned money on this dinosaur."

Generally, even her comments are just....skewy at best. She's looking for attention and just SCREAMS white trash.  I also doubt her husband is a true veteran.  He has no photos in uniform and I couldn't find ANY information on him being one.
